Distance psychotherapeutic assistance has taken on an especially relevant role after the COVID-19 pandemic, in terms of evaluation aspects but, especially, those of intervention. The different formats (videoconference, telephone call, emails, and chats) require different instrumentation, training, and strategies to achieve good therapeutic engagement and a good development of the evaluation and intervention. In this session, the characteristics necessary for each modality of distance assistance will be reviewed, and appropriate therapeutic approach strategies will be offered for the different age groups (children, adolescents, and young people). Studies on the differential efficacy of each of them will also be discussed, as well as the differential efficacy of this type of intervention compared to conventional interventions (such as face-to-face).<\/p>\n

En los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os se ha apreciado un incremento de los problemas de adaptaci\u00f3n de los estudiantes que se incorporan a la vida universitaria en muchos campus y universidades. Estos problemas se han agravado durante 2020 como consecuencia del confinamiento, de la docencia online y de otras medidas adoptadas por las instituciones y universidades como consecuencia de la pandemia de COVID-19. Psicall UCM es un servicio de atenci\u00f3n psicol\u00f3gica telem\u00e1tica inmediata (mediante tel\u00e9fono y correo) que la Universidad Complutense de Madrid pone a disposici\u00f3n de sus estudiantes y residentes en Colegios Mayores. En el simposio se analizan los principales problemas que presentan los j\u00f3venes universitarios que contactan con PsiCall UCM y los procedimientos y estrategias para abordarlos y darles soluci\u00f3n, a trav\u00e9s de cinco comunicaciones. En la primera, se pretende analizar el perfil de aquellos estudiantes de primer a\u00f1o (es decir, de 17 a 19 a\u00f1os) que demandan atenci\u00f3n telef\u00f3nica en PsiCall. Se analizar\u00e1n sus caracter\u00edsticas sociodemogr\u00e1ficas, los motivos de consulta, as\u00ed como la sintomatolog\u00eda m\u00e1s significativa. En la segunda, el objetivo es comprobar cu\u00e1les de las herramientas de cribado (malestar psicol\u00f3gico y riesgo) son \u00fatiles en un contexto de atenci\u00f3n telem\u00e1tica inmediata en poblaci\u00f3n universitaria, mediante el an\u00e1lisis de sus propiedades psicom\u00e9tricas. En la tercera comunicaci\u00f3n se explora el grado de afectaci\u00f3n actual producida por victimizaci\u00f3n previa en j\u00f3venes universitarios. La cuarta comunicaci\u00f3n estudia la influencia de la p\u00e9rdida temporal del grupo de primario de apoyo y se centra en la comparaci\u00f3n del estado psicol\u00f3gico de estudiantes que residen con y sin sus familias de origen. El primer a\u00f1o universitario es en el que m\u00e1s abandono se produce, siendo la adaptaci\u00f3n a la universidad una prioridad a nivel psicol\u00f3gico con estos alumnos. La quinta y \u00faltima comunicaci\u00f3n propone un taller de regulaci\u00f3n emocional y asertividad enfocado a proveer a estos j\u00f3venes de estrategias de afrontamiento que les permitan ajustarse a la vida universitaria de manera eficaz. En este estudio se presenta la metodolog\u00eda llevada a cabo en este taller y los resultados obtenidos en el mismo.<\/p>\n

Cristina Larroy is a Ph.D. in Psychology at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM in Spanish), and a Professor in the Department of Clinical Psychology in the same university. She is the Director of the UCM University Psychology Clinic and Director of the PsiCall UCM (Immediate Telematic Psychological Attention Service for UCM students). She is also co-director of the Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology: Professional Practice, at the UCM; and vice president of the RED-INFANCIA Scientific Society. Her most relevant research line focuses on Clinical and Health Psychology, especially concerning women and young people and adolescents: epidemiological studies, evaluation, prevention, intervention, and health promotion at an early age. She also works in the field of children, in control of oppositional behavior and disobedience.
