When schools fully integrate social, emotional, and academic development into K-6 education, academic performance improves, students are more engaged in school, and\u2014as a result\u2014they are more likely to graduate high school and attend and graduate from college. In this symposium, we will present two interventions developed in the field of socio-emotional competencies, as well as researches that reinforce the association between socio-emotional and academic functioning, from preschool to 6 th grade of schooling. Thus, the first communication will present a program ( \u201cO Crescer do Ler e do Ser\u201d (The growth of reading and being) developed to promote socioemotional skills in preschool education and results that illustrate associations between socioemotional indicators (emotional knowledge and peer acceptance) and emerging literacy (phonological and print awareness). In the second and third communication, data presented corroborate the association between socio-emotional competencies and academic competence in 2nd and 5th-year students, respectively. The last communication will present \u00abPONTES\u00bb (Bridges), a socio-emotional learning program aimed at 5th grade students, with the goal of promoting socio-emotional skills, as well as sharing the preliminary results derived from its implementation. Portugal<\/p>\n<p>Diana Alves es profesora adjunta en la Facultad de Psicolog\u00eda y Ciencias de la Educaci\u00f3n de la Universidad de Oporto (FPCE UP, Departamento de Psicolog\u00eda), donde imparte los cursos de Psicopatolog\u00eda Infantil y Adolescente, Dificultades de Aprendizaje, Evaluaci\u00f3n Cl\u00ednica de Ni\u00f1os y Adolescentes y Asesoramiento Psicopedag\u00f3gico. Es psic\u00f3loga certificada en Psicolog\u00eda Cl\u00ednica y Educativa por la OPP. Tambi\u00e9n es psic\u00f3loga cl\u00ednica en el Servicio de Intervenci\u00f3n Psicol\u00f3gica para Ni\u00f1os y Adolescentes (FPCEUP), donde coordina la Unidad Especializada de Dificultades de Aprendizaje. Ha sido consultora en varias intervenciones implementadas en contextos educativos con el objetivo de promover la competencia socio-emocional de los ni\u00f1os en edad escolar. En los \u00faltimos 20 a\u00f1os se ha dedicado al estudio del aprendizaje de la lectoescritura y de la competencia socioemocional en ni\u00f1os y adolescentes, as\u00ed como a desarrollar y probar un modelo tri\u00e1dico de intervenci\u00f3n en Dificultades de Aprendizaje. Investiga en el campo de la psicolog\u00eda del desarrollo, as\u00ed como en la competencia acad\u00e9mica, social y emocional de los ni\u00f1os, habiendo publicado tanto art\u00edculos como cap\u00edtulos de libros. En cuanto a la divulgaci\u00f3n, ha presentado docenas de formaciones y talleres para profesores y padres sobre la promoci\u00f3n del ajuste socioemocional y el \u00e9xito acad\u00e9mico. Como supervisora de siete tesis de maestr\u00eda en Psicolog\u00eda Cl\u00ednica y de la Salud, ha guiado trabajos en el campo de la salud mental con enfoque en la promoci\u00f3n y remediaci\u00f3n. Actualmente, colabora como investigadora en un proyecto Erasmus+_KA3_2020(ProWSI-PBS-ECE-623489-EPP-1-2020-1-EL-EPPKA3-PI-POLICY).
