Neuropsychological assessment is playing a central role in the care of children and adolescents. Neuropsychological and multidisciplinary centers receive numerous families seeking a comprehensive evaluation. One of the most common reasons for referral for neuropsychological assessment is academic and\/or behavioral difficulties in educational and family settings. Professionals in the medical field, such as doctors, pediatricians, neurologists, neuropediatricians, or psychiatrists, refer individuals to complete a medical diagnosis or to understand the consequences of a known or suspected neurological developmental disorder.<\/p>\n

Neuropsychological assessment is a complex procedure that begins with reviewing neurodevelopmental variables and generating clinical hypotheses, which then determine the definition of an evaluation protocol to identify strengths and weaknesses. In other words, it aims to understand the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral aspects of the individual’s phenotype. Additionally, the assessment considers the impact on daily functioning, social participation, and quality of life.<\/p>\n

The monographic session will feature four speakers who will present four clinical cases in which neuropsychological assessment has made a significant difference in medical, psychological, or educational diagnoses.<\/p>\n
