The study of affect has increased greatly in recent years due to its relationship and impact on a large number of constructs such as extraversion, self-esteem and neuroticism, among others. At the same time, the usefulness of affective dimensions in differentiating between anxiety and depression is well known. In this sense, and due to the importance of all these constructs in the development of children and adolescents, it is very important to analyze the potential of this emotional construct. Therefore, the aim of this monographic round table will be to present the most commonly used categorization in the scientific literature about affect and to try to deepen in statistical methods of individual study, as is the case of the creation of affective profiles, to be able to apply them in students and check the implications of these. We will also reflect on the need to include the affective dimension in programs to improve student attendance. Likewise, we will try to analyze more implications of the construct of affect when applying it to other participants in the teaching-learning process. All in all, the aim is to deepen the knowledge of the adaptive dimensions of affect and the detection of affective dimensions that may jeopardize the correct personal performance, with the consequent implications for education and psychology professionals.
