Selene Valero-Moreno, PhD in Psychology and licensed clinical psychologist, currently holds the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Personality, Assessment, and Psychological Treatments at the University of Valencia. She is a member of the research group \u00abEducating in Emotions in Childhood and Adolescence\u00bb (EMINA group) and serves as secretary of the Spanish Society of Child and Adolescent Clinical Psychology (SEPCIJ).<\/p>\n
In her teaching career, she has taught in courses in the Psychology degree program and in various official master’s programs, mainly focused on areas such as psychological assessment, child and adolescent assessment, and psychological interviewing techniques. Her teaching also focuses on the development of various innovation programs designed to promote mental health and socio-emotional competencies among university students.<\/p>\n
Regarding her research work, she focuses on the assessment and intervention with individuals facing chronic illnesses and their caregivers, with special attention to the pediatric population. Additionally, she shows interest in psychosocial factors related to rare pediatric diseases. Currently, she is involved in several intervention programs aimed at improving adaptation to illness and the quality of life of adolescents with chronic illness such as 10Vida and Emoticare.<\/p>\n
Due to her research interest, she has participated in R&D projects funded by public calls, and in obtaining patents and intellectual property registrations. She stands out as the principal investigator in a project of Emerging Groups of the Valencian Government, as well as her current contribution as a member of the research team in different R&D projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation.<\/p>\n

The symposium will focus on exploring innovative strategies for using technology platforms for developing skills and promoting mental health at different stages of life, from childhood to emerging adulthood. In an increasingly digitalized world, it is crucial to understand how we can use technology to enhance psychological well-being.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nThe speakers will share their research and practical experiences on how digital platforms (apps, virtual reality, and serious games) can be used to prevent mental health problems and promote social-emotional skills, self-esteem or self-identity and compassion. These digital tools address children and adolescents\u2019 needs and provide effective methods for engaging parents, educators, and health professionals in this process.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nStarting this symposium with discussions of different novel approaches ranging from the Index of Social Emotional Technologies to the SEL Injection Approach (S.I.A.), which underscore the multifaceted roles of technology in promoting inclusion, well-being, and social and emotional competences within educational contexts. The symposium progresses by addressing digital platforms targeting adolescents with chronic illness, EmotiCare, which emerges as a pivotal platform dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for adolescents grappling with diabetes. Further, the symposium highlights initiatives like SEL4@ll, which endeavors to promote European adolescents\u2019 social and emotional skills, thereby facilitating their transition into adulthood.
