Est\u00edbaliz Royuela-Colomer holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Deusto, Bilbao (2022). She also obtained a Master\u2019s in General Health Psychology from UNED (2019) and a Master\u2019s in Research in Clinical and Developmental Psychopathology from Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam (2017). In recognition of her research work, she was awarded the Best Doctoral Thesis Award by the Spanish Society of Positive Psychology (2023). In 2025, she received a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral contract.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Between 2015 and 2022, she was a member of the Deusto Stress Research<\/strong> group, where she focused her research on protective factors for mental health in adolescence, with a particular emphasis on mindfulness.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She is currently combining her research work in the AGORA group<\/strong> at the Universitat Aut\u00f2noma de Barcelona<\/strong> and the Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de D\u00e9u<\/strong> with clinical practice and teaching at various online universities. Additionally, since 2024, she has been a member of the Centre of Biomedical Research in Epidemiology and Public Health (CIBERESP).\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With over 25 scientific publications and numerous oral presentations at national and international conferences, her research has focused on the protective role of mindfulness, adolescence, pain, psychological intervention assessment, mental health prevention, and the use of new technologies applied to health.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the clinical field, her specialization includes the treatment of self-esteem issues, interpersonal relationships, and eating disorders.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In recent years, there has been an increase in eating and body image issues among adolescents. Among their causes are problems with emotional regulation, as well as the influence of social media on body image perception. It is essential to have validated prevention strategies and treatments that address these challenges.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This symposium brings together experts to discuss four key aspects of eating disorders and body image in adolescents. First, we will explore the impact of social media and how it can influence the emergence of risky behaviors. Subsequently, we will address emotional eating in adolescents, analyzing its relationship with emotional regulation. Weight stigma will also be discussed, a factor that contributes to discrimination and affects the psychological well-being of adolescents with eating difficulties. Finally, the use of virtual reality will be presented as an innovative tool in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders, exploring its potential for improving emotional regulation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
