PARENTAL FACTORS CONDITIONING THE OUTCOME OF TREATMENT PROGRAMS IN CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS.

In clinical practice we find multiple factors extrinsic to the intervention techniques that have a determining influence on the outcome of therapeutic programs.

When evaluating and deciding the best treatment for a specific problem, we must not forget that there are very important influences on parents and adults in the environment that will contribute to the expected outcome of the techniques we decide to implement.

In this symposium we will present four of these elements that we must evaluate prior to intervention to try to reduce their impact and predict the prognosis.

We will present a review of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, which conditions the behavior of the child/adolescent even before birth.

We will address the role of parental compassion in the emotional regulation of children.

We will illustrate how parental anxiety influences the treatment of children and adolescents.

And finally we will repair the cognitive factors and the base beliefs of the parents that affect their educational model and will influence the stability of the behavioral and emotional change of their children.
