EVE-LYNN NELSON

Eve-Lynn Nelson, PhD, LP, FATA, is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Kansas. She began at KU Medical Center after completing an internship at the University of Miami — Jackson Memorial Hospital and graduating from the clinical psychology program at the University of Kansas, with a focus on health psychology. Her research focuses on evaluation of evidence-supported, patient-centered approaches in low resource communities, including evaluation of the array of telehealth technologies to deliver clinical and educational programming.  

Dr. Nelson pioneered school-based telebehavioral health from 1999-present. Her team’s multi-state Telehealth ROCKS initiative extends behavioral health best practices and whole family support around social determinants of health needs to set children up for success in the classroom and in life. Securing over $20 million in grant funding from 2020-present alone, she has served as Principal Investigator on programs across child telebehavioral health topics (e.g., ADHD, depression, autism, trauma), pediatrics (e.g., epilepsy, diabetes, medical complexity), lifespan (from telelactation to telehospice), and settings (e.g., school, primary care, home). She is proud to lead Heartland Telehealth Resource Center and dissemination of telehealth best practices. Dr. Nelson has had the privilege to provide telepsychology services for over 20 years and train the next generation of healthcare providers in telehealth.
