Promoting pediatric psychology and resilience in Ukraine: lessons learned from the EPPN Ukraine webinar series

This symposium shares the developmental process, implementation, and outcomes of the European Pediatric Psychology Network’s (EPPN) webinar series, “Promoting Evidence-Based Pediatric Psychology and Resilience in Ukraine: The EPPN Webinar Series.” This initiative is a collaboration between EPPN and the Ukrainian charitable organization, Voices of Children (VoC). Our international partnership is emphasized in discussion of the project as well as next steps to expand and support building infrastructure to promote pediatric mental health outside of the United States. Discussion includes strategies to ensure effective, appropriate, equitable, and culturally sensitive sharing of expertise and implementation of project initiatives, next steps, and future directions. Finally, the war in Ukraine is only one instance of ongoing unrest and violence in the world. At the time of this writing, we are witnessing a significant escalation of the Israel-Hamas war. Pediatric psychologists have been and will continue to be tasked personally and professionally to navigate these atrocities and provide support to patients and families who are suffering, both at home and abroad. This presentation provides tangible next steps on how to harness our expertise and implement it where it is needed most.
