ADOLESCENTS AND SMARTPHONES: HABITS, BEHAVIORS, ATTITUDES, AND SOCIALIZATION IN SOCIAL NETWORKS AND DIGITAL PLATFORMS

Technology is part of the day-to-day life of most adolescents in Spain as an inseparable part of their social functioning. Generations of "digital natives" have reconfigured the meaning of interpersonal relationships by blurring the line between digital and analog. One of the technological elements that has most affected social relations in the last decade is the so-called smartphones; Spain being the first country in Europe to penetrate this type of device (81%) compared to the rest of mobile phones. This symposium will analyze the consumption habits among Spanish adolescents in relation to Smartphones and Social Networks. We will present the results of several studies that have studied the patterns of use, the use of free time, as well as the preference for certain digital platforms. We will also discuss the habits of specific populations such as young people with disabilities and the relationship between some platforms and/or social networks and the effects on attitudes and socialization of adolescents.
